After the success of my sister's dress, I was inspired to make a simple summer skirt for myself. I bought a pattern made by Simplicity in the "full figured" line. The directions are often more vague than I prefer with these types of patterns, but this one was ridiculous! It instructed to match up notches that didn't exist, and to follow directions for other versions of the pattern that made no sense! This pattern couldn't be simpler, with only 3 pieces to put together, and it drove me crazy. Finally, I started to sew it together the way I thought it was telling me and ended up sewing the yoke on upside down. It was then that this skirt was officially dead to me. I don't know if I have less patience sewing something for myself, or if this really was just a stupid pattern. It's too bad that when they mark a pattern as "Easy" they're still assuming that you already know how to put it all together. And if that was the case why did they write out the $%*# directions anyway.
